Last week was heat 5. Heat 5 meant a crazy amount of photos and not a lot of time to edit them. Thankfully, they’re finally finished and I have to say, I’m fairly happy with a few of them!
Now, the compulsory comment about lighting – it was up and down. For Cactus Bodyslam it was kind of incredible, but for certain other bands it wasn’t so good. I had sad face.
So bands. Pretty incredible line up this week with some very talented people. First up was At Ease and, while I may be slightly biased after being told I had to like them by a friend, they were really great. They had a lot of energy on stage, some great songs and thoroughly deserved their place in the semi-final.
Next up were Akrazia, who had the worst lighting of the night and, consequently, were impossible to photograph well, that was sad. Pretty sure they were the heaviest band of the night but they had some nice little moments in this songs and despite me feeling grumpy towards the lighting guy, I did enjoy their set.
Then we had Cactus Bodyslam who everyone had been talking about so I had high expectations and I wasn’t really disappointed. While funk isn’t really my sort of music and I’m not the biggest fan, they were still gave a really fun, enjoyable performance. You could tell they all loved what they were doing and were having a great time and, having seen most of these guys before, it’s clear they’re a really talented bunch of guys.
Following these guys, Alphonse Elric. I really don’t know what to say about them, just let the photos say it all.
Ending the night there was a lovely little set from Jake Benson. A lovely guy with a lovely voice.
So results were Cactus Bodyslam got through to the final and At Ease to the semi-final.
And all the photos from the night are on Facebook.
