Last year I attempted to make a playlist every week of the 10 songs I’d listened to most that month, with the rule that I only include each song once throughout the year. It was full for a while until uni decided to get in the way and give me many essays which were a pretty unwelcome distraction.
This year I’ve decided, instead, to try a playlist a month. 10 songs which I’ve been listening to a lot each month.
For January you’ll see a bit of a pattern – there’s a lot of God Help the Girl (because I got a little obsessed with the soundtrack now I’ve finally seen the film because it’s on Netlifx), there’s a lot of Belle and Sebastian (because they just released their new album and it’s fantastic), there’s a lot of Stornoway (because they just released their new single and announced their third album and I fell in love with their music all over again) and there’s a lot of White Lies (no real reason, they’re just brilliant).
There’s also a song in there by Flyte – a band I saw supporting Bombay Bicycle Club last year and was really impressed with, and another by Model Aeroplanes, a band I discovered this month and am really enjoying so far!
